India imported more steel than it exported between April and September. China emerged as the top steel exporter to India during this period. South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam also increased their steel exports to India. India's finished steel production and consumption grew, but exports declined. Italy remained the biggest market for Indian steel despite a drop in shipments.
