Jeremy Swayman Dealing With Mixed Emotions Facing Linus Ullmark

The Bruins face the Senators this Saturday, meaning it will be the first time they play Linus Ullmark since the offseason trade.

Boston and Ottawa both look like winners from the trade. Ullmark’s been a solid goalie for the Sens. Mark Kastelic centers the B’s top line, Joonas Korpisalo’s held his own and Dean Letourneau looks impressive at Boston College.

But it still will be an emotional moment for fans and Jeremy Swayman when Ullmark hits the ice opposing the Bruins.

“It still hasn’t hit,” Swayman told reporters, per a team-provided video. “It still feels like I got his presence around here, and the traditions that we had still live on. That’s with every guy that’s been through this locker room and the relationships that I’ve had with forwards and D-men alike — and staff. That’s a testament to the guys who’ve been through this locker room and worn this jersey. We’re brothers for life.”

A win Saturday night will be important for both sides as they each try to avoid to sink down the Atlantic Division standings. Whether or not there will be hugs after the game was a question Swayman left to the imagination.

Puck drop for Bruins-Senators is scheduled at 7 p.m. ET, and you can catch full coverage on NESN starting at 6 p.m.
