Inside Coleen Rooney’s battle to be Queen of the Jungle shower as she gets in top shape to match Maura Higgins
COLEEN Rooney is determined to be declared Queen of the Jungle Shower after developing a killer body core with intensive pilates classes.
The mum of four faces competition for the accolade from Love Island star Maura Higgins.
But Coleen had sessions with a personal trainer to get in tip-top shape and be ready to do battle in the I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! bikinis war.
Coleen, 38, has switched from weight-based exercises to high-power Reformer pilates sessions.
And she is set to reap the benefits when she enters the Australian jungle for the ITV1 show, which starts next Sunday, November 17.
Her demanding workouts will also ensure she is in great shape if the cameras catch her showering in the jungle alongside Irish model Maura, 33.
The Sun on Sunday exclusively revealed last month that Coleen had signed up to take part in I’m A Celebrity, having secured the biggest deal in the show’s history.
The Wag’s fee is understood to be bigger than Nigel Farage’s £1.5million pay packet last year as bosses were so excited to snap her up.
Coleen has been working out at Rise Fitness Studios, posting pictures online showing off her moves on the Reformer machine — which features pulleys and ropes and is considered the hardest form of pilates.
She wrote: “Love my reformer sessions at @risefitnessstudios, full-body workout which I find great for toning, flexibility and posture.”
An insider said: “Coleen has been hitting the pilates sessions religiously and thrown herself into having a svelte physique so she looks amazing on screen.
“There will be younger women on the show with her and she, understandably, wants to feel confident in a bikini on screen.”
Coleen is expected to take dozens of new bikinis with her when she flies out to Australia this week, having previously admitted she likes to wear a different one every day while abroad.
Meanwhile, pilates teacher Jenny Healy, who runs her own studio in Stockport, Gtr Manchester, thinks pilates will set Coleen up brilliantly for winning stars in the dreaded Bushtucker trials.
She said: “Pilates is brilliant for anyone who wants to develop a strong core.
“Coleen will have a really strong body and be able to tackle whatever challenges are presented to her in the jungle.”
Coleen has used several fitness studios, including Neon pilates, in upmarket Cheshire — at which Man City star Kyle Walker’s fitness fanatic wife Annie Kilner has also been spotted.
Rise studio, in Liverpool, was owned by Coleen’s brother Anthony McLoughlin, and she is always keen to work out there.
Meanwhile, as Coleen was spotted out shopping yesterday, hubby Wayne said he would be watching I’m A Celebrity — but cheekily pretended he did not know she was going on the show.
Speaking after his team’s 1-1 draw at Derby, the Plymouth manager said: “I’ve watched it every year for the last 15 or 20 years so this year will be no different.”
Asked if there was a special reason for him to tune in, he joked: “I don’t know.
“I don’t know who is going to be in it.”
