WATCH: Lizelle Lee creates history, becomes first batter to smash 150 in WBBL history

New Delhi: Lizelle Lee of South Africa smashed a record-breaking 150 not out, including 12 sixes, for the Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday, setting the highest individual score in the history of the Women’s Big Bash League since its inception in 2015.

The 32-year-old opener also struck 12 fours during her explosive 75-ball innings against the Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Lee’s knock surpassed the previous record of 136 set by Brisbane Heat’s Grace Harris last year, with her 12 sixes also setting a new benchmark for the Twenty20 competition.

Lee’s explosive innings marked a remarkable turnaround, coming after she had managed only 71 runs in her previous five WBBL innings this season.

“I have to give credit to everybody in our team that kept on believing in me and when I was doubting myself and crying, and couldn’t stop, they were there,” she told Australia’s Channel Seven.

Lee’s brilliant knock powered the Hurricanes to a total of 203/3 in their 20 overs, while the Scorchers were bowled out for just 131 in response.
