Bernie Sanders: Working class is angry and has reason to be angry

0

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) stood by the statement he released after the presidential election that was critical of the Democratic Party, arguing the working class has a reason to be angry.

Sanders joined CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday morning to discuss the election aftermath. While praising President Biden’s efforts for the working class, Sanders argued Democrats should have done more to appeal to them.

“Here is the reality, the working class of this country is angry, and they have reason to be angry,” he said. “We are living in an economy today where people on top are doing phenomenally well while 60 percent of our people are living paycheck to paycheck.”

Sanders, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, released a blistering statement after Democrats largely lost the election, with Vice President Harris losing to President-elect Trump and Republicans taking control of the Senate.

“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” Sanders said in his previous statement.

Sanders said the interests of billionaires outweighed the priorities of the working class, a message he doubled-down on Sunday.
