Trump allies served notice by Arizona AG they'll still face jail time despite threats
During an appearance on MSNBC on Sunday morning to explain how her state will be girding for an onslaught of attacks from incoming president Donald Trump, the Democratic attorney general of Arizona served notice to allies of Trump that their criminal activities will still be prosecuted.
Speaking with MSNBC host Ali Velshi, AG Kris Mayes was asked about reports that the president-elect will try to interfere with how states conduct their business.
"They are saying this stuff and part of the effort of authoritarian governments is to try and make people fear so that they obey in advance," host Velshi prompted his guest. while pointing to a close Trump ally Mike Davis who recently said on a podcast, “I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term. Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights. I promise you that.”

"No, we won't do that," she quickly replied. "We won't be cowed, we won't be intimidated and we never have been."
"And this is a time for patriots to stand up for our Constitution, for us to remember that millions of Americans fought and sacrificed and died for our Constitution. and just because, you know, I don't even know how to describe the individual, would say those disgusting things about the top law enforcement officer of the state of New York, just because they say those things doesn't mean we are going to stand down."
Turning to her own state, she added, "As you know, I have a fake electors case in Arizona and have no intention of giving that case up –– I have no intention of dropping that case."
"A grand jury in the state of Arizona, decided that these individuals, who engaged in an attempt to overthrow democracy in 2020, should be held accountable," she added. "So we won't be cowed, we won't be intimidated and patriots across the country must stand up for our Constitution; for what is lawful and we will do that and where we can."
