Rita Ora, Maya Jama and Vick Hope wow on the MTV EMAs red carpet in Manchester
RITA Ora, Maya Jama, and Vick Hope all dazzled on the red carpet at the 2024 MTV European Music Awards.
Huge names from music, film and TV were all out in force at the highly-anticipated global event in Manchester.
Rita Ora, 33, put on a jaw-dropping display at the star-studded event as she made a bold statement.
The Hot Right Now hitmaker initially made her way into the ceremony as she clung onto the arms of her husband, Hollywood actor and director Taika Waititi.
They both put on a loved-up display by sharing a kiss as she stunned onlookers in her bold dress that looked like it was made entirely of blonde wig hair.
The plunging look was completed by an elaborate train that also featured ratted locks.
Love Island presenter Maya, 30, also led the way as she stunned in a plunging black gown with a waist-high slit.
She beamed as she stepped out onto the red carpet in the glamorous look with simple black strappy sandals.
The star took inspiration from Liz Hurley’s iconic 90’s look as her dress featured huge gold accessory safety pins which lined the revealing cut outs.
Maya also sported a glam makeup look with perfectly manicured brows, soft shadow, pointed liner, and thick nude gloss.
Raye, 27, was one of the first of the nominated stars to make her huge entrance onto the carpet.
She was due to perform at the event after she was given recognition in three categories.
The Escapism hitmaker greeted fans in a blood orange 1920s art deco style gown with an embellished skirt.
Meanwhile, Mabel, 28, attended with her mother, 80s star Neneh Cherry, 60, who were both all smiles as they posed together.
The Don’t Call Me Up singer covered up in a thick turtleneck checkered gown, while the Buffalo Stance hitmaker wore an oversized pinstripe suit.
Gemma Atkinson, 39, also opted for a plunging look as her fiancé Gorka Marquez competes in Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Hollyoaks actress stunned in a black dominatrix themed corseted leather midi dress.
Her gown had snakeskin panels and cutouts by her legs that were tied together with matching black laces.
She accompanied the strappy look with gloves, and a huge black cloaked that was draped over her elbows.
The radio presenter also wore her blonde locks tied into a beehive updo as she sported simple black heels.
TV presenter Vick Hope took advantage of the hype around Gladiator II as she sported a roman themed ensemble.
The Radio 1 star posed in a white plaster cast modelled corset with a cream toga-inspired skirt.
Other names to grace the carpet include Eurovision’s Olly Alexander, Jedward, and comedian Katherine Ryan with her 15-year-old daughter Violet.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Shawn Mendes both put on suave displays in their tailored suits.
The James Bond hopeful wore a burgundy two-piece look that featured a matching silk shirt.
Meanwhile, the Stitches singer kept his chest open in a monochrome look completed by a prominent poppy.
He will perform tonight at the new Co-op Live arena which will also include elaborate staging from the likes of Teddy Swims and Benson Boone.
British artists including Charli XCX, Raye, and Dua Lipa will be among the stars battling it out for top industry gongs.
Pop star Rita Ora will front the ceremony, where the Pet Shop Boys will receive the first MTV EMA pop pioneers gong.
Hip hop icon Busta Rhymes will also be honoured with the prestigious global icon award.
The ceremony is returning for the first time since 2022, after last year’s event was cancelled due to the “volatility of world events” following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.
It will take place in Manchester after it is held in a different European city every year.
The awards will be presented by celebrities including Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale as well as actors Jodie Turner-Smith and Emily In Paris actor Lucien Laviscount.
Gavin, 59, walked into the event flaunting his arm tattoos in a simple sheer black short-sleeved t-shirt.
US pop star Taylor Swift leads the pack with seven nominations, including best video, best artist, best live, and best collaboration.
Brat star Charli XCX is close behind with five nominations, after her album inspired this year’s Brat summer trend.
The singer-songwriter is in the running for awards including best collaboration, for Guess featuring Billie Eilish, best video and biggest fans.
She appears alongside Beyonce, Sabrina Carpenter and Post Malone in the best artist category.
The 2024 MTV EMAs will be broadcast at 10pm on Channel 5 and will be available on demand on Paramount+ from November 12.
