Journalist questions whether Spurs will loan out 18-year-old in January
Following one Tottenham man’s struggles against Galatasaray, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has questioned if the club might decide to loan the player out in January.
A night to forget for Spurs
Tottenham delivered one of their worst displays of the season at Rams Park on Thursday, with the 3-2 scoreline flattering the away side.
The Turkish side created plenty of opportunities, with Spurs repeatedly making unforced errors at the back and giving possession away during the build-up.
There were many poor performances across the pitch for Ange Postecoglou‘s men, and bizarrely, they only started to get control of the game after they went down to ten men in the 60th minute.
Michael Bridge raises transfer question
One player who failed to have much impact on proceedings in Istanbul is Lucas Bergvall. The Swede seemed to struggle to cope with the pace of the game and did not make good use of the ball, constantly turning it over in midfield.
It was the sort of performance that raises questions about the 18-year-old’s readiness for the top level, and Bridge wonders if the Lilywhites might decide to loan the youngster out in January.
Bergvall needs time and patience
It was never going to be smooth sailing for Bergvall at the start of his Tottenham career, given the considerable step that the youngster took in the summer.
He has shown enough glimpses of quality to convince Spurs and Postecoglou that he could be an important player in the future.
The club’s decision on whether to loan him out might depend on whether they sign another number eight during the January window.
