Elections underway for 2025 Oregon's Kid Governor

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Election season may be over for grown-ups, but students in Oregon still have a chance to vote for their next Kid Governor.
Fifth-grade candidates created campaign videos outlining why they want to be Oregon's Kid Governor in 2025.
Each made a three-point plan outlining how fifth graders can make a difference. The issues the kid governor candidates are addressing include bullying, climate change, preventing mental illness and homelessness.
The candidates and their platforms are:
- Desmond - Bullying
- Jordyn - Raising Awareness Against Discrimination and Racism
- Rosie - Climate Change
- Ryker - Helping Families in Poverty
- Saanvi - Reducing Homelessness and Providing Basic Amenities to the Unhoused
- Syon - Preventing Mental Illness
- Teegan - Inclusion in Team Sports Helps Traumatized Children
The classrooms who sign up to vote will fill out their ballots by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
