John Lewis confirms exact date Christmas advert will air and teases the soundtrack in new clip
JOHN Lewis has revealed the date its final Christmas ad will be released in a new teaser clip.
The upmarket retailer, for the first time ever, is launching a trio of festive ads this year with two already having been unveiled.

The short 10-second clip features a sofa on an ice rink in a dark room with winter clothing-clad skaters circling it.
After around seven seconds, a date emerges from the background saying “14.11.24” before fading away.
The clip, set to soft string music, has already been spotted by a number of shoppers who can’t wait to catch the full video set to be unveiled in days.
One said they were “so so excited” while another simply added “finally!”.
A third chipped in with “IT IS TIME”.
John Lewis unveiled part one in its series of three ads in September, with the clip themed around the retailer’s “Never Knowingly Undersold” pledge.
The ad, directed by Saatchi and Saatchi, first aired on Channel 4 and shows viewers a single John Lewis shop window through the decades, from the roaring 1920s to modern day.
Scenes also shows the outbreak of the Second World War, the swinging 60s and shoppers clad in Lycra during the 1980s.
The 90-second clip’s soundtrack is performed by music artist Laura Mvula who sings a contemporary version of Paul Simon’s “I Know What I Know”.
The second clip, which aired earlier this month, is based around the “Give Knowingly” theme.
The ad chronicles the ups and downs of one shopper’s pink jumper bought for her by her mum.
The 30-second clip reveals how the woman has spilt jam on the jumper, stowed it away in her loft after dying her hair the same colour and wore it when going official with her partner.
The ad closes with a still of the jumper wrapped up with a note that reads “Love Mum X” as narrator and actress Samantha Morton says “just know it’s for you, and the person who gave it to you loves you”.
John Lewis is not the only retailer releasing a multi-part festive ad campaign this Christmas.
Waitrose, owned by the John Lewis Partnership which also owns John Lewis, is releasing two adverts this year, with one already out.
The first ad, which came out last week, features a star-studded cast who are interrogated after a Christmas pudding goes missing.
Viewers are left at a cliffhanger as the culprit is almost revealed before the advert cuts out.
The thief of the festive dessert will be unveiled in a second 60-second clip later this month.
What are other supermarkets doing?
Sainsbury’s has unveiled its festive ad for 2024, featuring iconic Roald Dahl character the BFG.
Meanwhile, Morrisons’ Christmas ad has singing oven gloves taking centre stage.
German discounter Aldi has teased a “super cute” ad, although shoppers have been left asking after Kevin the Carrot.
The Debenhams campaign features an all-star cast – Elizabeth Hurley, Leomie Anderson, Ellie Taylor, and Hannah Cooper-Dommett – as they embrace the ease of online shopping.
And the Argos Christmas ad stars the retailers’ much-loved mascots, Connie the doll and Trevor the dinosaur.
Retailers aren’t just releasing Christmas ads this year either – some are shutting up shop for two days over the festive period.
Home Bargains, Aldi and John Lewis and Waitrose have all said they will shut stores on December 25 and 26 to give staff time off.
They’ve been joined by Poundland, The Range and Wilko and Homebase.
