Tate McRae releases new single, ‘2 Hands,’ announces new album and new tour for 2025
On Thursday, Nov. 14, Canadian pop singer Tate McRae released a new single, “2 Hands,” along with an accompanying video (watch above). But that’s not all. She also announced that in 2025 she’ll be releasing a new album, “So Close to What,” and going on tour.
“So Close to What,” which will be her third album, drops on February 21. It follows her 2022 debut studio album “I Used to Think I Could Fly” and her 2023 followup “Think Later.” Before those efforts, she released two EPs, “All the Things I Never Said” in 2020 and “Too Young to Be Sad” in 2021. So she’s nothing if not prolific. All that and she’s still just 21 years old. “Making this album has been the most beautiful and exciting journey and I cannot wait to finally share it with you,” she said in her Instagram post announcing the new music.
Then she’s going on the road. The “Miss Possessive Tour” will feature special guests Zara Larsson and Benee and kick off March 18 in Mexico City. “Another dream come true!” she posted.
McRae has been on the rise in recent years. She broke onto the charts with her 2020 single “You Broke Me First,” which topped out at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Then her album “I Used to Think I Could Fly” was a hit, reaching No. 13 on the Billboard 200. She leveled up, though, with “Think Later,” which debuted at No. 4, making it her first ever top-five album. Its lead single “Greedy” was also a major breakthrough for her, peaking at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
