Leather goods shop closing in Saratoga Springs
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Local Branch, an artisan leather goods store, is closing. The store will officially close on Nov. 30, store owner Mackenzie Vossler announced on the business Facebook account.
"I’m sad to share we’re saying farewell to our little Saratoga storefront in a few weeks," Vossler stated. "Being a small business owner is hard sometimes, we’ve contemplated slow growth and shifted with the tides for 15 years. We’ve pushed and pulled, tweaked and iterated and when it’s time to let go, I’ve learned you have to be okay with it."
The storefront opened in December 2023 after launching the business in 2009 which operated out of a mobile Airstream trailer. In 2018, they opened their first brick-and-mortar shop in Skaneateles.
"Sometimes things don’t go as you hoped or planned - we could say it was inflation or an election year, maybe there is too much competition - I’ll never know, but I’m glad we tried," she wrote. "And who knows what’s next, maybe we’ll finally crack the code to selling on the internet, maybe we’ll just stay with one charming little shop here in Skaneateles, maybe we’ll go travel the world again. We shall see … but for now, all I know is we’re saying goodbye to our little shop on Broadway on Nov. 30th."
The shop carries homemade leather and canvas-made apparel, bags, accessories, candles, woodworking, gifts and more. You can view all their products on The Local Branch website.
