NYC Hiring for 900 public safety jobs requiring only one civil service exam
NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City is making it a little easier to apply for public safety positions by launching a new combination exam for almost 900 positions.
The positions are available for school safety agents, traffic enforcement agents, special officers, and sanitation enforcement agents. Those interested in any of the 900 positions can apply for the “Public Safety Exam, Level 1” online by Nov. 29.
There is a one-time application fee of $47 but before this combination exam, candidates would have had to pay four separate application fees totaling $209.00. Those who pass the multiple-choice exam on Jan. 10, 2025 will be added to the city’s hiring list for the next four years.
“Our historic first-ever joint public safety civil service exams will allow us to uplift hundreds of our fellow New Yorkers and set them on meaningful career paths, all with unprecedented efficiency,” said New York State Assemblymember Jenifer Rajkumar.
The public safety combination exam in November is the first of three that will be offered by the city. The next test is set for spring 2025 and a third at a later date.
