Clark County deputies seek third suspect after armed cell phone robbery
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Authorities are searching for a third suspect connected to a Clark County robbery in early November after a victim was robbed of a cell phone and pistol-whipped, the Clark County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.
Just before 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a reported robbery that happened during the sale of a cell phone.
The robbery victim told deputies he communicated with a buyer online and arranged to meet in person for the transaction.
The sheriff’s office said the three suspects arrived in a blue Dodge Durango and met the victim at an apartment complex in the Salmon Creek area.
One of the suspects took a cell phone from the victim before pointing a gun at the victim’s head and pistol-whipping him, the sheriff’s office said, noting the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine.
Deputies later found and arrested two of the suspects, identified as 18-year-old Howard Osawa and 19-year-old Va’Zjahn Willis, who each face robbery and trafficking of stolen property charges. Investigators also recovered the suspect’s vehicle, and the gun used in the robbery.
The sheriff’s office is asking for help identifying a third suspect, who is described as a Hispanic or Pacific Islander male with long hair in a ponytail. The suspect is about 5’10” to 6’2” tall with a large build and was wearing a light-colored Champion hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery, authorities said.
Detectives believe the group has committed similar robberies and thefts in the last month, in which they spoke with someone online, met the victims in person, and then robbed them.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
