These New Timex Dive Watches Are Gorgeous, Functional, and Under $500
After 170 years, one might think it would be easy to start running out of new ideas, especially as a watchmaker. Yet, Timex still manages to push the boundaries forward, which is basically the tagline of its new Deepwater collection (tagline “Explore Beyond The Edge”), which features eight total timepieces across three subsections, all for under $500, and most for under $250.
The Timex Deepwater collection is focused on just what the name suggests it would be, watches made for underwater pursuits. That means all eight watches boast up to 200 meters of water resistance. The trio of watches (or watch types) under the new series are the Deepwater Reef 200, Deepwater Reef 200 GMT, and Deepwater Reef Titanium Automatic, and each survived extreme pressure testing by freediver Francesco Sena as he descended into Y-40, Italy's third-deepest pool.

All of the dive watches in the collection also feature 41mm cases, anti-reflective coating for clarity underwater, and Super-Luminova hands that are easy to read as you descend deep beneath the surface.
Deepwater Reef 200 Titanium Automatic
The Deepwater Reef 200 Titanium Automatic features just one watch and comes in at a price of $479, which—while still incredibly reasonable considering its aquatic abilities—is almost twice as much as any other piece in the collection. That’s because it’s built with a durable grade 2 titanium case that makes it both lightweight and durable. It’s powered by a Miyota 8215 21-jewel Japanese automatic movement and features a black synthetic rubber strap.
Deepwater Reef 200 GMT
The Deepwater Reef 200 GMT collection has three total options, priced between $249 and $269, all with stainless-steel cases. You can choose between either a brushed and polished stainless-steel bracelet or an embossed synthetic rubber strap. All feature a reliable quartz GMT movement and fourth GMT hand shaped like an arrow for easy reference that allows you to track a second time zone.
Deepwater Reef 200
The most-reasonably priced option of the bunch is the Deepwater Reef 200 (which comes in priced between $199 and $219). Also featuring a stainless-steel case, this watch has a unique wave pattern across the dial. The watch is also equipped with a reliable quartz movement as well as anti-reflective coating. You can choose between either a black or blue embossed synthetic rubber strap or a brushed and polished stainless-steel bracelet.
Overall, when it comes to well-priced dive watches, it’s hard to find many that offer as much underwater options as well as good looks.
