The Main Causes of Las Vegas Car Wrecks Tourists Should Know About

0

Las Vegas beckons like a jewel in the desert. Where once nothing stood, you now have a glimmering oasis that promises fun and adventure. You have nearly limitless casinos and games of chance. However, you can also enjoy fabulous shows, elegant restaurants, and experiences that both singles out for a night on the town and wholesome families should appreciate.

However, Las Vegas also sees plenty of car accidents. If you get in one, then you must consider whether you’re sue the other driver. Understanding the timeline for resolving lawsuits becomes critical in such situations. You can’t wait too long, or you’ll miss your chance.

Let’s discuss some of the causes of Las Vegas car wrecks right now. If you visit the city as a tourist, you can watch out for these situations, and hopefully, you will get out of Sin City with some fun stories rather than a neck brace.

Alcohol

Alcohol flows freely in Las Vegas. You can get a cocktail or a beer free in most casinos, though the servers expect you to tip them. The casinos feel that you’ll spend more money if you have lowered inhibitions, so they don’t mind pumping you full of free liquor.

You probably already know that you shouldn’t drink alcohol and then try to operate a vehicle. You likely heard that for the first time in driver’s ed classes, if not before.

However, there’s sometimes a sense in Las Vegas that you should cut loose and not follow the rules as rigidly. It’s an exhilarating feeling, but you need to know when to avoid taking it too far.

That certainly applies with alcohol consumption and driving. If you drink, leave the car parked in the garage.

If you must get somewhere when you’re past the legal limit, call an Uber or a Lyft. You can easily contact one, but if that doesn’t sound opulent enough for you, then you can arrange for a limo instead. Just make sure you’re not the one in handcuffs at the end of the night because you thought you’d drive down the Strip after downing a pitcher of margaritas at your hotel’s Elvis revue.

Drug Use

While you can find alcohol anywhere in Las Vegas, you will also find illicit drugs if you know where to look. You should always avoid them. You never know the chemical composition of any pill or powder someone offers you.

While marijuana is legal in Nevada now, you should also never drive after using it, whether you smoked some or ingested an edible. They sell marijuana and marijuana-laced products in head shops all throughout the city, but just because it’s legal, that doesn’t mean you should indulge and then get behind the wheel. Doing so can easily cause a crash.

Smartphones

You may stay away from drugs and alcohol and only come to Las Vegas for some wholesome family fun with the spouse and kids. However, you might have something in your possession when driving through the city that’s every bit as dangerous as an intoxicant.

Your smartphone can cause an accident if you’re not careful, and it’s something that happens relatively often. If you try to text someone while driving or accept a phone call while you’re behind the wheel, you might hit the vehicle in front of you if it stops suddenly. You may run a red light if you’re not paying attention.

If you get a call, want to send a text message, or feel the irresistible desire to check your email while driving, pull over and turn off the engine before you do it. Better yet, pass off your smartphone to your spouse or partner if they’re in the car with you.

If you’re by yourself, put the phone in your pocket and don’t look at it till you’ve parked the car. These devices have seemingly thousands of uses, but they can become lethal distractions for a motorist.

Vehicle Touchscreens

You also have another potential distraction that’s often large and prominent in your field of vision while you’re driving. That’s the touchscreen that comes with many modern vehicles.

If you are driving through Las Vegas, then presumably, you don’t know the city unless you live there. As a tourist, you might have your touchscreen programmed to take you to the hotel or a restaurant where you booked a reservation.

You can listen to the verbal cues the navigation gives, but don’t let the screen draw your attention too much. If you take your eyes entirely off the road, you risk causing a wreck.

If you have another adult in the car, have them navigate for you. They can pay more attention to the screen than you can, and they can help to direct you where to go.

Speeding

You might see some drivers speed in Las Vegas, especially in the early morning hours. It’s possible some of them overindulged.

You will probably notice the Las Vegas police out and vigilant. They will usually spot a speeder and pull them over quickly.

Until they do, though, stay away from such an individual. If they’re speeding, then maybe they’ll do something else unpredictable. It’s best that you’re a safe distance away from them to avoid a collision if that’s the case.

Tailgating

You might even see someone tailgate another vehicle in Las Vegas. That can certainly happen out on the highway in any part of the country. However, in a city that advertises itself as an adult playground, someone acting aggressively while behind the wheel becomes even more likely.

You should drive defensively while making your way through all the glowing neon. Keep a safe distance from the car in front of you. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to stop if they do, and you also won’t anger the driver ahead of you who thinks you’re following too closely behind them.

By following these rules for motorists, you should enjoy your Las Vegas vacation.
