World's Tallest and Shortest Women Meet for First Time
Guinness World Records has introduced the planet to countless incredible people over the years. To celebrate the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day this year, the records-keeper brought together the world's tallest and shortest women for an unforgettable meeting.
Rumeysa Gelgi of Turkey and Jyoti Amge of India met for afternoon tea at the iconic Savoy hotel in London on Nov. 13. Gelgi stands at seven feet, 0.7 inches tall, while Amge has been the world's shortest woman at two feet, 0.7 inches for more than a decade. It was an exciting experience for both ladies.
"Meeting Jyoti for the first time was wonderful," Gelgi said, per Guinness World Records. "She's the most gorgeous lady. I was waiting to meet her for a long time."
"It was difficult for us to make eye contact at times due to our height difference, but it was great," Gelgi added.
Amge echoed her counterpart's sentiment. "I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman," she said.

Both women maintain prolific presences on social media and spent time bonding over their shared interests. "We do have things in common! We both love makeup, self-care, jewelry, and doing our nails," Gelgi said.
Amge, who also became the world's shortest actress after her on-screen debut on American Horror Story: Freak Show, spoke about her Instagram following and sharing her love of makeup and fashion with her admirers. "I do put in a lot of effort in my social media reels, and that's the reason I have a lot of followers," she said.

To commemorate the special meeting, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday presented Gelgi and Amge with special certificates recognizing the women as Guinness World Records Icons for their repeated years and titles held.
"I never thought I would be called an Icon and it’s extra special that it is in the 70th-anniversary edition of Guinness World Records," Amge admitted. "I can’t explain how happy I am!"
Gelgi was equally thrilled to be with such great company. "I've seen myself among all these artists and athletes that I’ve always been a fan of," she said. "It’s an indescribable feeling."
