Dee Brown Offers Challenge To Current Celtics Championship Core

BOSTON — Dee Brown played in the presence of Celtics legends and understands the history of the franchise before and after his tenure.

The former Celtics captain credited Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for raising the franchise back to a championship level with a star-studded core.

“I got a chance to know them when they were young before they got to the Celtics,” Brown told reporters before “The Tradition” Wednesday night at TD Garden. “To see those two work together and bring another banner here, I think everyone knows the saying, ‘We don’t hang division banners here in Boston. We hang championship banners.’ To see No. 18, one more than the (Los Angeles) Lakers is always good.”

Brown knows to be a legend with the organization, winning multiple championships when given the opportunity, separates the tiers of icons in Celtics lure.

“I still think they’ve got some work to do, they’re still young,” Brown added. “… You’ve got to possibly win multiple championships. It’s there. I think they’re the team to beat. We saw last night against Cleveland that the championship has to go through Boston. I think they take pride in that. Repeating is not easy. I think they’re up for the challenge. Joe’s done a great job, and I give a lot of credit to Brad Stevens.”

“The Tradition” airs Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. ET on NESN
