Pundit urges Spurs player to simply wait until Ange Postecoglou is sacked
One pundit has advised Lucas Bergvall that his situation at Spurs might soon change as Ange Postecoglou could be sacked in the near future.
Spurs youngster has not had many opportunities
The step up from Swedish football to the Premier League was always going to prove testing for Lucas Bergvall, and that is exactly how things have panned out at Spurs.
The 18-year-old is still waiting for his first Premier League start, and although he has impressed in some of his outings in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, he certainly has not knocked the door down.
The midfielder might have to bide his time at Spurs and it remains to be seen if the club contemplate sending Lucas Bergvall out on loan in January.
Ange Postecoglou’s sack might change Lucas Bergvall’s fortunes
Former Arsenal star Anders Limpar has now spoken about Bergvall‘s situation at Tottenham, insisting that the youngster will undoubtedly be a hit at the North London club in due course.
Interestingly, he suggested that Postecoglou might be out of the door sooner rather than later, thus potentially opening the door for the Swede to stake his claim for a starting spot.
The pundit told Fotboll Direkt about Bergvall: “He’s a good footballer, but he’s young. If you look at Tottenham’s form in the Premier League, it’s got a bit worse recently and you don’t lean on an 18/19-year-old from Sweden, you take the old guard, and it hasn’t worked.
“The games I’ve seen of Lucas he’s been fantastic, and he just needs to be a little calm and ride out the storm and there I think it might be time for a change of coach.
“They have one of the most talented teams in the Premier League, but they can’t get it together team-wise at the moment. But Lucas will be a mainstay for Tottenham in the future, I am absolutely sure of that.”
Lucas Bergvall settling in well at Spurs
Limpar has shed light on the conversation he had with the Tottenham midfielder’s father, Andreas Bergvall, revealing that the youngster is settling well to life in London since his summer switch.
The pundit added: “I sat and talked to his dad for about half an hour a couple of weeks ago. We talked about how young he is and his dad, Andreas Bergvall, I played with him in BP so we know each other.
“I asked him how he’s getting on in London, he’s loving it. His dad is over for a month, then his mum comes for a month, and he has a girlfriend who flies over. So, he’s doing very well.”
