Lyon County sheriff warns of fake warrant scam
EMPORIA (KSNT) - The Lyon County Sheriff's Office took to social media to warn of a scam circulating the area.
According to the sheriff's office, a text scam has been circulating where scammers send people fake images of a United States District Court Warrants for "the Arrest of a Witness in a Civil Action."
The sheriff's office reminded residents that it does not text people regarding warrants.
"The scammers are asking for payment to remove the warrant," the sheriff's office said on social media. "THIS IS A SCAM! Do not send them money, bitcoin, or any personal information."
