BASTROP, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- A Bastrop man is charged with rape and murder of a 14-year-old, authorities said.
Montrell Donell Holmes has been extradited and is charged with first degree rape and second degree murder after a child was found dead in Bastrop in June.
Bastrop Police responded June 23 to Daisy Street about a body that was located in a wooded area behind a residence. Authorities reported that foul play was suspected and identified the body as a 14-year-old.
Holmes was arrested by the US Marshall’s Service in Arizona and initially charged with second degree murder.
Holmes was extradited Oct. 16 and transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center. He will appear in the Morehouse Parish Court on Dec. 9 for his arraignment.
