Woman, 75, killed in Long Island DWI crash: Police

MIDDLE ISLAND (PIX11) – A crash involving an intoxicated driver killed a 75-year-old woman on Long Island Friday night, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. 

Melissa Koprowski, 41, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated after she allegedly crashed into another car near Middle Country Road and Wading River Hollow Road around 8:40 p.m., police said. 

Koprowski was attempting to turn left before allegedly crashing into the other car, police said.

A passenger in the other car, 75-year-old Esther Gui, was rushed to an area hospital and later pronounced dead, police said. Gui’s daughter, who was driving the car, was also sent to an area hospital, police said. Her 22-month-old daughter was in the backseat but was not injured.

Koprowski was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the SCPD.
