Cruz received just shy of 6 million votes statewide, about 1.7 million more than he did in the 2018 election. Allred won a little more than 5 million voters, about 950,000 more than Beto O’Rourke did in 2018.
KXAN has mapped precinct-level results in counties across the state to get a better picture of how Texans voted. At this time, precinct-level results are available in 132 of Texas' 254 counties. The map will be updated when additional data becomes available.

We currently have results data for 8,163 precincts across Texas. At least one vote was cast in 7,856 of those precincts.
Despite losing statewide, Allred won more precincts than Cruz. Allred won the most votes in 4,157 precincts, while Cruz won 3,673 precincts. Libertarian Ted Brown won one precinct in Harris County, and 25 precincts saw a tied result. We are currently awaiting results in 1,445 precincts.
Cruz's strongest margins were primarily in rural parts of the state. He won at least 90% of the vote in 140 precincts, and at least 75% in a further 1,199 precincts.
Allred's strongest margins were in larger cities, primarily Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. He won at least 90% of the vote in 107 precincts and at least 75% in a further 663 precincts.
Several precincts statewide were incredibly close. Cruz earned a plurality of votes in 174 precincts, while Allred won a plurality in 180.
