Jennifer Garner Knows Her ‘Pancake’ Makeup Was Bad

We’ve all gone through our fair share of questionable beauty phases (2016 eyebrows, I’m looking at you). And TikTok’s beauty-blindness trend won’t let us forget it. For Jennifer Garner, that phase was …. “a pancake face.” I may love Wicked, but I guess I’m not a real theater kid because, at first glance, I thought it looked more like Grimes’s signature look. But on an episode of the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, the actress was asked to reveal the worst beauty advice she’s ever received. It turns out that she didn’t have to turn to YouTube or TikTok for this one.

“I didn’t have to receive it. I am my own worst beauty advice,” Garner says. “If you look at any pictures of me all the way through college, if I have makeup on, I wore my theater makeup. It was pancake makeup on my face. It was so bad.”

And she’s right; the look is something else. But we’ve all been there. Then on Sunday, the actress posted a throwback photo on Instagram of her makeup look, coupled with a Victorian-era outfit and curls. While Garner joked her makeup skills aren’t much better as an adult, at least she knows how to color match now. And now we know Garner has a sense of humor, and we can relate.
