New Delhi: In the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025, the Rajasthan Royals team bought Vaibhav Suryavanshi for 1 crore 10 lakhs. Controversy seems to be arising about this player who is said to be 13 years old. People have even accused him of age fraud. The matter is very serious because in an interview Vaibhav himself told his age, according to which he would be 15 years old at this time.
13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who comes from Samastipur, Bihar, has been discussed fiercely ever since he joined the IPL auction at the youngest age. After being bought by Rajasthan Royals in the mega auction, he is being discussed continuously. Rajasthan has added this young batsman with a base price of 30 lakhs by bidding Rs 1 crore 10 lakh. Delhi Capitals had also bid to get this player in their team.
Age fraud controversy related to Vaibhav:
Vaibhav Suryavanshi played in the Ranji Trophy in January this year and then there was a controversy regarding his age. His old video from last year came out in which Vaibhav was heard saying that he will turn 14 in September 2023. Since then, there has been a controversy regarding his age. Vaibhav’s father Sanjeev Suryavanshi had given clarification regarding age fraud.
“When he was 8 and half years old he first appeared for a BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can again undergo age test.” Sanjiv Suryavanshi told PTI
“My son has worked hard. At the age of 8 years, he excelled at U-16 district trials. I would take him for his cricket coaching to Samastipur and then take him back,” he added
Talking about how Rajasthan Royals selected Vaibhav for IPL, Suryavanshi said, “Rajasthan Royals had called him for trials in Nagpur. Vikram Rathour sir (batting coach) gave a match situation where he had to score 17 in an over. Bituwa ne 3 chakka mara. Trials mein aat chakka aur char chauwaa mara (He smashed three sixes. At trials, he hit eight sixes and four fours).”
