Gamers rush to grab PS5 accessory with £20 off in early Black Friday deal
BLACK FRIDAY is days away, and an early deal is offering PlayStation 5 gamers £20 off new DualSense wireless controllers.
Discounted controllers in various colours are currently available for £39.99 – instead of the usual £69.99.
The Black Friday offer is being boasted by John Lewis, Argos, Amazon and Very.
But the John Lewis deal is the only one with a two-year guarantee included.
You can add a two-year replacement policy onto your Argos order for a one-off £9.49, or a three-year insurance option for £7.99 at Very.
Although, ‘free’ insurance certainly sounds good doesn’t it.
Most of the colours are already sold out on the John Lewis website.
But Midnight Black and Starlight Blue are still available.
If you’re a fan of the standard blue and red, those are still in stock.
Although, these versions are just £15 off, bringing the price to £44.99.
It would be a nice change from the standard white controllers that come in the box with every PS5.
Now might be the time to pick up an extra controller to game with family over the Christmas holidays.
It might also be wise to have one in your back pocket for when your current controller succumbs to the dreaded stick drift – or any other technical woes.
Stick drift is when one or both joysticks act as though they are stuck in a certain direction, instead of returning to their neutral position.
It can be a nightmare when it occurs during a game – and can be the difference between virtual life and death.
“I purchased the Starlight Blue variant and the colour is nice and vibrant,” one verified buyer wrote in a five-star review on the John Lewis website.
“New controllers always feel snappier, and would recommend picking up a replacement if your current one has a bit of stick drift.”
Another five-star reviewer added that it “stops my sons from fighting over two white ones, they now have a red and a blue”.
DualSense controllers are the step above the DualShock handhelds that came out with the PS4.

What do PS5 DualSense controller lights mean?
Here's what you need to know...
There are several different colours that can appear on your PlayStation joypad.
They might show up at the sides of the Touch Bar on the face of the DualSense – or the LED bar, which is just below the PS button.
It’s also important to note that you’ll get different lights when you’re linked to a PS5 – or if you’re connected to another device via Bluetooth, like your Apple iPad or a gaming PC.
Playing on a PS5
Your PS5 controller will normally show a blue light when it’s connected to a PlayStation.
But if a second DualSense joins, their colour will be red.
Green signifies that a third player has been added, and purple is used to show a fourth.
You might also find that the bar turns orange. That means you’re running low on battery.
However, if it’s a pulsing light, that means your PS5 is either charging or entering Rest Mode.
Finally, if the LED bar below your PS button is orange, it means the controller is muted.
This is extremely important: you don’t want to be accidentally chatting in voice lobbies because your microphone is active.
Playing on another device
When you’re connected to something other than a PS5, the lights take on a different meaning.
A blue and white light-pulse means that you’re pairing with a device.
And a solid blue indicates that the pairing is finished.
An orange-and-white light means that your DualSense is paired to another device.
And a pulsing orange light signals that your controller is charging.
