RAYNE, La. (KLFY) -- A 41-year-old Rayne man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the sexual abuse of a child that occurred over two years, according to Louisiana State Police.
Julian “Trey” Aucoin III faces three counts of first-degree rape and one count each of sexual battery and indecent behavior with juveniles. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Corrections Facility.
According to a news release, his most recent charges stem from an investigation that began on Nov. 4, after LSP's Special Victims Unit received a complaint involving the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 13. Aucoin was accused of abusing the child.
"During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered Aucoin participated in numerous acts of forced sexual contact with the minor over the span of two years. Based on their investigation, a warrant for Aucoin’s arrest was obtained," state police said in the news release.
The case remains under investigation.
LSP's Special Victims Unit works to rescue and seek justice for victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor. State police said the public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of those crimes.
The public is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
