Food Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that there are no current plans to increase margins for fair price shop dealers. State governments have the flexibility to set rates above central norms. The central government provides assistance for foodgrain movement and dealer margins but leaves operational responsibilities, including setting the actual dealer margin rates, to the states and union territories.
