It’s Pixie-Cut Season for Brie Larson

On Monday, the actress Brie Larson shared a selfie, and a dark brown pixie cut was in place of her signature long blonde locks. How seasonal! We know to beware a bob, but is a pixie cut the next thing set to take over our collective hair minds, one celebrity at a time?

The new look is what the Oscar-winning actress will sport on the West End stage (for her debut, no less) as the main role in the revival of Sophocles’s Elektra. While previews will begin early next year, it’s never too early to start getting into character, and what screams Greek tragedy more than a short and tousled hairdo? To make sure we didn’t mistake this drastic hair change for a post-breakup cut, Larson did us all a favor and captioned the two photos of herself on Instagram with “Elektra is here.” She’s dedicated to her craft, that’s all.

What’s maybe most jarring is how quickly it happened, though that is how a haircut works. But just the day before, Larson had leaned into her blonde, sharing a mirror selfie in which she’s “Channeling [her] inner Glinda.” But who can blame her for her excitement? She’s a theater kid now!
