Now, the star has been able to share a positive update with fans after his sudden hospital stay.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday morning, he shared a snap of some frost-covered trees in his lucious garden.

Making a reference to his health in the caption, the Gardener’s World star said: “Morning #gettingbetter.”

It prompted an influx of messages from fans as they shared their well-wishes and words of wisdom and support for the star amid his ordeal.

One said: “Good to hear you’re on the mend. Keep relaxing and enjoying your doggies.”

Another penned: “Please take care of yourself and rest.”

Before a third said: “Hope you feel much better soon – take care.”

News of Monty’s health scare came after he was set to appear at talks in Exeter, Truro, Bath, and Nottingham over the weekend.

However they were all forced to be axed after the popular BBC star endured a three-day hospital stay before returning home.

Monty explained the situation in an Instagram video yesterday, saying, “Hello. I am so sorry to have disappointed all those people who were going to come and see me in Exeter and Truro and Bath and Nottingham.”

He revealed that his health took a sudden turn on Friday afternoon.

The TV personality continued: “I was rushed to A&E. I was kept in at the hospital over Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and had to have drips and all the rest of it.”

Monty reassured fans that his condition is improving and that he is now recovering at home.

He said: “I came home last night, and I’m feeling much better. I’m going to spend the next few days quietly recuperating here at home and hopefully by the weekend I’ll be back to full fitness.”

Who is Monty Don's wife Sarah?

Monty met his wife Sarah while studying at university and they married on July 29, 1983.

The pair ran their own couture costume jewellery business from the early 80s to 1987.

Their pieces were sold in 30 countries worlwide, featured in Vogue, and boasted celebrity fans including the now late Princess Diana and Michael Jackson.

The brand – Monty Don Jewellery – was stocked in Harrods and Harvey Nichols, and the couple went on to open their own store in London’s exclusive Knightsbridge.

Monty previously told the Independent that Sarah was “75 per cent of the designing brains” while he was the salesman.

Sadly, the couple’s business went under in 1987 following the Wall Street Crash and they faced bankruptcy.

However, since then, Sarah has switched her attention to writing and is an author.

Monty, meanwhile, has forged his own successful career as a horticultural expert, writer and TV presenter.

Monty’s Health Battles

Monty has previously revealed his battle with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which means for a quarter of the year, a person experiences low mood, a lack of energy and feelings of despair.

It can affect anyone at any time of the year but it afflicts Monty between November and mid-February.

Monty finds that using a light box and taking antidepressants has helped but he really finds it best to get as much natural light as possible to combats his blues.

He said this year: “For me, and I think for most people, experiencing weather, rain, wind, sun, cold, whatever it is, is very helpful and restorative.

“Go out and get thoroughly drenched or cold and come inside and warm up.

“Or feel the wind on your face or the sunshine on your face. Listen to the birds, notice the sound of the wind in the tree or kick your feet through leaves, that engagement is very beneficial.”
