The Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 recently had a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra. PM Albanese was seen having a conversation with India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah and star batter Virat Kohli as India won over Australia in the first Test.

When doing introduction, PM Albanese made a joke about Kohli dominating in Australia. As he congratulated Kohli for his century, Albanese said, “Good ton in Perth, as if we weren’t suffering enough at that point.” Since Kohli is known for his sharp responses, he responded with a grin saying, “Always gotta add some spice to it.”

This exchange brought laughter and highlighted the friendly rivalry between India and Australia as well as the crucial connection to India loving the spice they put in the game. This banter showed the mutual respect that is shared between Kohli and the Australian PM.

Kohli smashed his 30th Test century in Perth during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 after KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a 201 run partnership and made a massive target of 534 runs. Australia was bundled out at just 104 in their first inning and lost the match by 295 runs.
