YouTube Gold: Scottie Pippen Highlights
One of the absolute greatest of all time
Like the rest of the NBA, Chicago Bull Scottie Pippen was overshadowed by his teammate Michael Jordan. And Jordan was spectacular and charismatic to be sure.
However, the Bulls would not have won six championships without Pippen, who was also extraordinary.
Even better, Pippen came out of nowhere as far as most people were concerned. He was off the radar at Central Arkansas for the average fan, but not for the NBA: he was the fifth pick in the 1987 draft.
Once he was paired with Jordan, the Bulls were impossible. Both were long, athletically supreme and versatile. Like Jordan, Pippen was a breathtaking defender and while he wasn’t as dominant offensively, he was also very difficult to stop.
In this video, we get some idea of his talent. He really wasn’t far behind Jordan at all. It’s astounding really that the Bulls were able to pair these guys and then to build one of the greatest NBA dynasties around them.
