Me & my husband share the same toothbrush – trolls say it’s disgusting, but I don’t get it as we snog all the time
A WOMAN has left people open-mouthed after revealing that she and her husband share the same toothbrush.
Holli Grasmeyer revealed that she had no idea that the practice was weird. and doesn’t understand why her admission has caused so much controversy.
The mum explained that instead of having two separate toothbrushes she and her husband have a “shower toothbrush” and a “counter toothbrush.”
“We use them interchangeably, there isn’t one that’s his and one that’s mine”, she said in a video posted to TikTok.
Holli revealed that she only found out that this practice was weird after she witnessed two of her friends, who are a married couple, arguing because one of them had accidentally used the other’s toothbrush.
Holli was left shocked, as she assumed that all married people shared a toothbrush.
She said that because couples kiss all the time, she thinks it seems natural to share a toothbrush.
“We make out, so I just figure, who cares?”, she said.
The next day, Holli went to the dentist and asked the hygienist if sharing a toothbrush was bad.
The hygienist laughed and told her that everyone should have their own toothbrush.
However, she added that in a desperate situation, it would be OK to share a toothbrush with a loved one.
Holli asked the dentist why sharing a toothbrush was bad, and she explained that it’s because the bacteria that causes cavities is contagious.
However, she added that this bacteria can also be passed on through kissing.
Holli’s (@holli.grasmeyer) video has likely left many open-mouthed, as it has racked up over 408,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts, with many left disgusted by Holli’s comments.
One person said: “Absolutely not. I barely even like using my own toothbrush.
Dentist-approved teeth whitening tips
ERIN Fraundorf, DMD, MSD, owner of BOCA Orthodontic + Whitening Studio in Missouri, shared her top tips for whiter teeth.
Seek whitening treatment from a professional. It’s often stronger and will be the most effective so you don’t waste your money on a product that doesn’t work or may harm you. You also only get one set of teeth, so it’s best not to experiment on them.
Consider the cause of the staining. There are numerous causes for teeth to have a yellow or brown tint. Be sure to get evaluated and diagnosed by a professional to ensure you receive the best treatment for your stains. Not all stains are the same so they may require different treatments.
Consider your lifestyle, smile goals, and budget. When choosing a whitening treatment that is best for you, consider multiple factors when designing a custom plan. Some people like homework to whiten at home, some prefer in-office treatments only, some need to get really bright really fast — for a wedding, for example — whereas others would like a more gentle, gradual, consistent approach to whitening.
Ease into it. Start integrating teeth whitening into your routine gradually to get your teeth accustomed to it and you can closely monitor your level of sensitivity to regulate how frequently you can whiten.
Try to prevent. Make tiny changes to your lifestyle in an effort to prevent staining from penetrating your teeth. For example, sip staining beverages through a straw, swish with plain water after drinking anything staining, and pick flat water over sparkling whenever possible.
Water floss to help in between the teeth stains. Blast away stubborn stains in between your teeth with a water flosser, because toothbrush bristles can only reach so much of your tooth surface.
“I replace mine like every month.”
A second person said: “Honestly if we were on holiday and there was no way to get me a toothbrush if I forgot mine, I’d go the entire week without brushing before I would use his.
“I’d use my finger or something.”
A third person said: “We don’t even share toothpaste.”
A fourth person added: “I wont even let his toothbrush be in the same cup as mine.”
