Arson suspected in Wilcox Street fire, authorities say

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A fire that destroyed a wooden shed and damaged a nearby home on Thanksgiving is believed to have been started intentionally, according to the Lafayette Fire Department.
According to a news release, Lafayette firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Wilcox Street around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. A neighbor reported the fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a large wooden shed in the backyard on fire. Authorities said the fire had spread to the home's exterior and eventually ignited the attic.
Authorities say the home sustained moderate fire damage but the backyard shed is a complete loss.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
Authorities said the backyard shed did not have any electrical services.
"Fire investigators suspect someone entered the structure and intentionally set a fire," the news release read.
