You’ve come a long way, baby
In the last few years there have been plenty of changes to streets in our city centre. Here’s a quick tour:
Angel Street:
Castlegate:
Charter Row:
Exchange Street:
Pinstone Street:
Tenter Street:
And there’s more to come. The new “Dutch style” roundabout at West Bar will soon be finished, to give people walking and cycling and driving a safer and easier way to move through this area of West Bar. This aims to reduce conflict by shaping the road layout to give appropriate and safe speeds and good visibility.
These examples show how much our streets can change to work better for people. Thanks to the work of many people over the years who have pushed forward and campaigned for better streets, planned and designed these, wrangled the politics to approve them, and now built and installed these changes on the ground.
Imagine what it could be like to have people-focused streets throughout Sheffield.
