Champions League club hope Tottenham take winger off their hands
One Champions League side are hoping that Tottenham take a player off their hands so they can use the funds to sign one of their own top targets.
Tottenham man playing for his future
Timo Werner is playing for his future at Tottenham. While he has improved of late, the German international will know that he must do a lot more to convince the Lilywhites to sign him permanently.
According to various reports, the 28-year-old will remain at Spurs until the end of the season, but Ange Postecoglou is putting off a decision on whether to activate the £8.5m option to buy him permanently next summer (GiveMeSport).
The former Chelsea man will undoubtedly continue getting opportunities to prove his worth over the coming weeks, given the injuries that Tottenham are dealing with.
Leipzig hoping Tottenham activate Timo Werner option
A report in SportBild (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now revealed that RB Leipzig are eyeing a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.
The report claims that the French international could be allowed to leave Paris in January or next summer, with Marco Rose’s man ready to bring him back to the Bundesliga.
However, in order to afford the striker, they would have to raise some funds and they are hoping that part of that money comes from Werner.
Leipzig are said to be counting on Tottenham to activate their option to buy the wide man and thus boost their coffers.
Too early to write off Timo Werner
A lot of Spurs fans have already written off Werner and will think that it is ridiculous that the Lilywhites are even considering signing him permanently.
However, one can argue that £8.5m represents very good value for a player who can make the sort of impact off the bench that the German can.
One cannot rule out Werner turning around his Spurs career like Brennan Johnson did this season after he was widely deemed to be not good enough.
