Earl Holliman, 'The Rainmaker' and 'Twilight Zone' actor, dead at 96
(NEXSTAR) - Award-winning actor Earl Holliman has died at the age of 96, according to multiple reports.
Holliman died Monday in hospice care at his home in Studio City according to his spouse, Craig Curtis, who told The Hollywood Reporter.
Born in 1928 in Delhi, Louisiana, Holliman was best known for his roles in "Forbidden Planet", "Giant", and "The Rainmaker", in which he won the Golden Globe for 'Best Supporting Actor' for the role of Jim Curry.
Holliman is also well known for his TV work, having starred in the very first episode of "The Twilight Zone" and the TV mini-series, "Delta".
He was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1977.
Holliman will also be remembered for his work as an animal rights activist, as a singer, and as an honorary chairman for Toys for Tots.
