The weather brought chaos to the ITV show, with part of the set ripped up and flooded roads to the site. It also caused last night’s trial to be pushed back an hour.

The weather — believed to have been the wettest in the show’s 22-year history — eventually calmed enough for the celebs to stay in camp.

Bosses had been worried the storm could hit the satellite system and coverage.

A source said: “All the campmates are fine, but producers monitored them on Saturday night as the storm worsened. The crew were struggling to make it on site.

“At one point there was genuine concern about how much they would be able to film. Fortunately, it calmed down a bit and all was OK.”

The rain pounded the camp all weekend, with 114.5mm falling in 24 hours.

Hosts Ant and Dec shared a video of their journey into camp on Instagram yesterday morning, showing their car driving across a flooded road.

Ant, 49, said: “We all got texts this morning saying the rain is so bad you might not even make it in today.”

Dec, also 49, added: “It was an effort to get the show on air today. There were only a few people here.”

Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse, 34, said: “It’s rainy again and it’s affecting everyone’s mood in camp.”

Corrie actor Alan Halsall, 42, said: “We had rivers flowing through camp, pathways that are now waterways, everyone’s bed was drenched.”

Radio DJ Melvin Odoom, 44, had to sleep in the Bush Telegraph after his hammock got soaked.

He had huge spiders, cockroaches, mealworms and offal dumped on him as he tried to chuck balls into hatches in Spiralling Out of Control.

But Barry, 63, was a knockout, getting ten out of 11 stars after performing poorly in an earlier trial. He said: “This is a comeback for me.”
