NCP (SP) named Jitendra Awhad as its group leader in the Maharashtra legislative assembly on Sunday. Debutant MLA Rohit Patil has been made the party's chief whip. This decision was made at a meeting for newly elected MLAs. Party leaders Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule also attended the meeting. Awhad represents Mumbra-Kalwa in Thane.
