Dogs believed to belong to slain Brightwood woman found dead
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Officials found two dead dogs believed to belong to a Brightwood woman who was recently found dead after being missing for over a week.
The woman, 61-year-old Susan Lane-Fournier, was originally reported missing with her large Malinois-mix dogs on Nov. 22.
Officials told KOIN 6 News the dead dogs were recovered by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office within Multnomah County. The dogs' bodies were transferred to the custody of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, where they are working to confirm their identities.
After Lane-Fournier’s truck was found on Nov. 23, rescue crews spent four days scouring the Mt. Hood National Forest for signs of Lane-Fournier and the dogs, but the search was called off Tuesday morning.
Her body was discovered Friday in Clackamas County, four miles from where her truck was found, authorities said. However, the dogs had not been found at that time.
Later that night, Lane-Fournier's estranged husband Michel Fournier was taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder.
