Renowned online coaching teacher Avadh Ojha has officially entered politics, joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Known for his expertise in competitive exam preparation, particularly for UPSC aspirants.

Avadh Ojha recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. His reputation is beyond teaching; he is regarded as a motivational figure for students. With over 22 years of experience in coaching, Ojha has become a well-known name in the education sector.

Avadh Ojha Political Aspirations

Ojha had expressed interest in politics earlier and aimed to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Media reports suggested he was seeking a ticket from a major political party but did not receive one. Initially, Ojha hoped to secure a BJP ticket from Prayagraj or a Congress ticket from Amethi. However, after these plans did not materialize, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party to pursue his political ambitions.

Avadh Ojha Early Life

Avadh Ojha was born in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh, to a modest family. His mother was a lawyer, and his father worked as a postmaster. Ojha completed his early education at Fatima School in Gonda. While his parents wanted him to do a career in medicine, Ojha had different aspirations, as he wanted to crack the UPSC (IAS) exam and serve the nation.

After completing his schooling, Ojha moved to Prayagraj for higher education, where he was introduced to the world of UPSC. Despite failing the UPSC exam on his first attempt, Ojha remained determined and continued his preparation. However, the setbacks led him to explore a new path.

Avadh Ojha Struggles

Avadh Ojha said in an interview that “After being thrown out of the house, I got a chance to teach history in a coaching institute, but I did not know how to teach. Still, I started teaching and gradually taught the children about my “I started liking the method.”

Ojha’s journey was filled with hardships. At one point, he faced severe financial challenges, struggling to pay the rent for his coaching center and household expenses. With growing family responsibilities, he worked as a bartender at night and taught students during the day. This phase of struggle proved to be a pivotal moment in his life, marking the start of his rise as an educator.

Turning Point In Avadh Ojha Life

Following his UPSC failure, Ojha decided not to pursue a conventional job. Instead, he began teaching history at a coaching institute. In an interview, he recalled how he started teaching without any prior experience. Over time, students appreciated his unique teaching style, and his coaching career began to flourish. In 2005, Ojha launched his own UPSC coaching institute in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, a hub for aspirants.

Avadh Ojha is celebrated for his unparalleled expertise in history. He has worked with prestigious institutions such as Chanakya IAS Academy and Vajiram & Ravi IAS. In 2019, Ojha established his own coaching institute, IQRA Academy, in Pune, Maharashtra, which quickly gained popularity among UPSC aspirants.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when offline classes were suspended, Ojha leveraged YouTube to reach students. His channel, “Ray Avadh Ojha,” features lectures on historical events, geopolitical trends, and current affairs. With over 909,000 subscribers, the channel has made quality education accessible to a wider audience.

Ojha’s innovative teaching methods, coupled with his engaging style, resonated with students nationwide. Additionally, he initiated programs to provide free education for underprivileged students, demonstrating his commitment to social equity in education.
