Recently, BBC One fans were left stunned by The Police vocalist’s youthful look.
OPENING UP
The band’s frontman achieved phenomenal success with The Police, and he still includes Roxanne and Every Breath You Take in his solo set list.
He previously exclusively told us how he remembers those heady days “with a great deal of gratitude for the energy and the chemistry between us.
“It wasn’t comfortable at times, a lot of political jostling, but they were fabulous musicians and we were unique,” he said.
Sting explained why he had to move on: “We achieved everything we could within a very short space of time, a hundred-fold beyond our expectations.
“But being in The Police was limiting. I could see that it would become a diminishing experience in terms of satisfaction. There were three colours in the palette, which made that shade, but I wanted a broader palette.
Sting - Top 5 Tracks
STING has achieved huge solo success as well as as the frontman of The Police. Yet what are his top tracks ever?
According to Smooth Radio, Sting’s top five tracks in his career have been revealed.
- Englishman In New York
- Fields Of Gold
- Shape Of My Heart
- If I Ever Lose My Faith In You
- Desert Rose
“I wanted more musicians, a brass section, backing singers. I was curious to explore new worlds.
“I’m ever-respectful of AC/DC, a fantastic band, but they do not go left or right, they go straight ahead. That’s not me.”
GRAMMY GONGS
Sting has achieved a variety of accolades on and off-stage.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has received 17 GRAMMY Awards and sold 100 million albums worldwide from his combined work as one of the most distinctive solo artists in the world and former The Police frontman.
Sting also has received a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations, a Tony nomination, Billboard Magazine’s Century Award and Kennedy Center Honours.
The star’s support for human rights organisations such as the Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International, and Live Aid mirrors his art in its universal outreach.
Along with wife Trudie Styler, Sting founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989 to protect both the world’s rainforests and the indigenous people living there.
