Jury selection begins in attempted murder trial
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Jury selection began on Monday for an Albany man charged in connection with a homicide in Cohoes.
Dontie Mitchell, 44, is charged with attempted murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the shooting death of Shieer Leggett in August 2023. Mitchell was initially charged with second degree murder, but that charged was dropped.
Mitchell previously spent 24 years in prison for armed robbery. He became an anti-violence activist after he was granted clemency in 2021.
