Highlights from the Tillamook State Forest Work Party

Several folks came to the woods of the Tillamook State Forest on Saturday, November 23, to assess trail conditions following the recent heavy winds and rain. Surprisingly, there was minimal damage to the trails; but enough to justify a nice walk in the woods with chainsaws. We focused on the trail network near the summit of Route 6. With five volunteers, we managed to scout 13 miles of trails and cut out about a dozen downed trees. 

There is still plenty of work to be done out there throughout the winter – there are still some smaller trees down, and the conditions of Gales Creek trail north of Storey Burn junction and the Wilson River Trail are unknown at this time.
