'Living his best life': Ousted Dem's fiery response to reporter causes social media stir

0

A frank response from an outgoing Democratic senator that included a four-letter profanity provoked an immediate stream of reaction Monday evening from political observers across social media.

The internet began to chime in moments after Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) was asked by reporters what he made of President Joe Biden issuing a pardon for his son Hunter as backlash to the decision continued to grow.

“I’m one month from getting the f--- out of here,” CNN’s Raju reported Tester saying with a smile. “Ask somebody who counts.”

Social media users quickly embraced the straightforward response from Tester, who lost his reelection bid last month in the reliably red state that voted overwhelmingly for President-elect Donald Trump.

“Tester going full YOLO in his final weeks as a senator,” Punchbowl News congressional reporter Andrew Desiderio told his social media followers.

NBC News reporter Sahil Kapur, who also covers Capitol Hill, expressed a similar view.

“Sen. Jon Tester, living his best life, does not care to answer questions about Joe Biden pardoning his son,” Kapur noted on X.

Tester’s reply prompted New York Times writer Robert Jimison to playfully theorize the three-term senator was “showing off his Capitol Hill senioritis.”

“Tester 2028” X user Ryan Campbell wrote.

Mike Nellis, a former senior adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris, summed it up a different way.

“Jon Tester is officially out of f---s. Respect,” Nellis told his followers.
