Sensex, Nifty updates on 3 December 2024: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty experienced a third consecutive day of gains on Tuesday, driven by strong buying in blue-chip stocks, including HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries, alongside positive trends in global markets. The BSE Sensex rose by 597.67 points, or 0.74%, finishing at 80,845.75, after peaking at 80,949.10 during the session. The NSE Nifty increased by 181.10 points, or 0.75%, to close at 24,457.15. Significant gainers in the 30-member Sensex group included Adani Ports, which surged nearly 6%, while major contributors such as NTPC and UltraTech Cement also added to the index’s rally. However, stocks like Bharti Airtel and ITC lagged. Internationally, Asian markets recorded gains, and European markets showed positive trends. While Foreign Institutional Investors sold equities worth Rs 238.28 crore, Domestic Institutional Investors purchased shares amounting to Rs 3,588.66 crore, indicating strong domestic interest in the market.
