There is a suspicion by many (most?) people in the US that there is a two-tier system of justice in the country. One for ordinary people who when committing a crime and get convicted are sentenced and serve time in prison. The other tier involves those w/ high level political connections who rarely go to prison even when convicted of a crime. Yesterday Pres. Biden pardoned his son Hunter though he'd been convicted of a crime.
