Preview: Hearts (A)

Hibernian return to Scottish Gas Scottish Cup action this weekend, taking on city rivals Hearts in the Third Round.

The second Edinburgh Derby clash of the last month is set for a 3pm kick-off on Sunday 8 December at Oriam.

The Lowdown

The Hibees remain in strong form following a draw with Partick Thistle before the international break at Meadowbank.

Tegan Bowie’s thrashing effort put Hibs in front right on half-time, before Cara Henderson levelled within a minute of the restart.

The points were shared as a stoppage-time push for a winner - following a late red card for the visitors - from the girls fell flat.

Despite the disappointment of dropping points at home, the result extended our unbeaten run to eight games (6W D2) in all competitions.

The result leaves Hibs fifth in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League as the team turn their attention to the cup.

The Hosts

Rosie Livingstone was the Capital Cup hero last time the two sides faced, as Hibs secured a narrow victory over Hearts at Tynecastle Park in November.

However, Eva Olid’s side bounced back from derby defeat with a 2-0 away victory over Aberdeen a fortnight ago.

Jackie Richards and Georgia Timms both netted inside 26 minutes at Balmoral Stadium to earn three points for the Oriam outfit.

Hearts now sit third in the SWPL standings and will now be seeking another lengthy Scottish Cup run after reaching the final last season.

The derby match on Sunday afternoon will take place at Oriam with tickets now on sale.

Supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets ASAP.

There will be no pay at the gate for this match.
