Hibs Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Hibernian FC came together with Motherwell to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
Saturday 30 November saw the two clubs work collaboratively together to put on a range of activities to shine a light on their respective supporters with disabilities.
This was all planned ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is every 3 December where organisations across the world shine a light on the rights, achievements, and aspirations of people with disabilities, while challenging us all to build a more inclusive, accessible society.
Last weekend, two young disabled supporters Finley and Jayden were given the special opportunity to be mascots for the game walking out onto the Fir Park pitch with their heroes.
The players from both teams also lined-up directly in-front of the Hibs and Motherwell disabled supporters.
Prior to the teams emerging from the tunnel, Hibs disabled supporter Simon read out the team-lines before being taken to his position during the game by his carer.
Following our impressive 3-0 victory at Fir Park, the joyous Hibernian FC First Team went over to the traveling disabled supporters to thank them for their backing and joined them for a memorable photo.
Hibernian FC are continuously looking to make improvements for all supporters with additional needs, and in the last 12 months we’ve done the following:
- We have installed two new disabled platforms in the East Stand.
- Audio description service for partially sighted and blind supporters.
- Provide sensory packs for our neurodivergent supporters.
