Emporia retirement home set to close Friday
EMPORIA (KSNT) - A local retirement home announced it's closing after nearly four decades of serving its community.
Company spokesman Mike Kerbs confirmed to 27 News that Holiday Resort in Emporia will close on Friday, Dec. 6. He declined to answer questions, saying more information will be released soon.
It's unclear at this time how many residents and employees will be affected by the closure.
According to the company website, the 120-bed facility was founded in 1988. It offered a variety of senior care options, including long-term skilled nursing and hospice services.
A spokeswoman for the City of Emporia issued the following statement on behalf of the city:
Our thoughts are with the residents, employees, and families affected by this abrupt announcement of the closure of Holiday Resort on Friday, December 6, 2024. We recognize the significant challenges this closure presents to both the residents who call Holiday Resort home and the dedicated staff who have served them. City staff will closely monitor the situation and work with local and state organizations in hopes of supporting the transition.
